Detoxifying Resolutions

So it's 2013.
Here I am, a food blogger, making a real resolution to lose weight and get in better shape.
Yes, I know. What's the point? It's not right on so many levels, but it's the truth.
I was even supposed to go to a yoga class tonight, but I didn't have the motivation. Maybe tomorrow night will be more inspirational. You know, like the instructor has us do a zen pose and then we all get a bite of chocolate to collectively celebrate the flexibility.
Sigh. I know, I know. That's not how it works.
But really.... I know I ran out of excuses to not be in better shape. My baby boy is almost 2 years old now. I can't say it's just "baby weight" anymore. It's time to get serious about exercise.
Now, I'm counting my calories and checking out various detox products. I am drinking a lot of water, tea and kombucha with chia seeds.
I swear, I can't help but hear that damn commercial in my head each time I take a sip: Ch-ch-ch-chia! If I begin growing a chia pet in my intestines, someone is getting sued.
If anyone has a better idea other than Zumba (which I heard is supposed to be like dancing fun disguised as exercise) and consuming green juice that tastes like freshly mowed grass with fertilizer, let me know. NYCFG needs a plan. Now.

  1. Yoga is amazing! It's lower intensity with major results and detoxifies the body while increasing strength & flexibility... all while honing your "chi"! Stick with the extra water drinking and as far as juicing, I have a few recipes that don't taste like grass (I promise!), so send me a shout and i'll send 'em over to you. Walking uphill, at a somewhat normal pace (3.0 MPH) is also a great workout a few times a week and it's not too draining.... Good Luck and if you need a fitness buddy: I'd be happy to help! :)

PS: Resolve to make small achievements daily, rather than dauntingly overwhelming "New Year's" resolutions. It's a great way of being kinder to yourself.

    1. I agree with the yoga - it's just a motivational issue. I'll have to get your recipes for some juicing!
      Thanks, Shea!

  2. Couple weeks on the farm will slim down anyone!
Did you see the chia head Obama? That's just wrong!

    1. I'm actually originally from "corn country", Dru - I grew up in the midwest and had a lot of farmers in my family. :)))
And yes, I've seen the chia Obama!! Wrongness defined.

  3. I too am drinking kombucha with chia seeds, love zumba and need to be on the wagon. Do you want an accountability buddy with a FAB green juice recipe?
When can you guest post on my blog girl!

  4. How about you guest blog with one of your FAB recipes, Phyllis! You'd be great!! And yes, I need an accountability buddy. Right now, I have an app on my iPhone, "My Fitness Buddy" and it works well, but it doesn't yell at me or give me kudos. It just tells me to eat more! ha ha!

  5. I do not knoω if іt's just me or if perhaps everybody else experiencing issues with your blog. It looks like some of the written text on your posts are running off the screen. Can somebody else please provide feedback and let me know if this is happening to them as well? This may be a issue with my web browser because I'vе
    had this happеn prevіously. Kudos
